An interdisciplinary scholar and writer who aspires to serve as cultural cultivator, Ms. Do seeks to make connections, leverage opportunities, and foster innovations that exist at multi-leveled intersections within our society. Advocating for individual success and community development with a key focus on cross-sectional growth has been a key component in Ms. Do’s personal and professional projects.

Believing that we are what makes life worth living, Ms. Do finds culture a fascinating encapsulation and reflection of our human experience. Within culture, fashion reigns as the first visual expression of individual identity and collective aesthetics: who we are and how we fit into our world.

Fashion is one of humankind’s founding stories, drawing upon and reacting to social, political, economic, and geographical issues that traverse the globe. It is a study in morals, utility, credence, perspective, beauty, and hope. It can be bound by time and place to specify singularity yet simultaneously be versatile enough to transcend borders as ideas and designs are retooled, reused, and repurposed to better suit present precepts.

In SAVViCode’s inaugural Fashion Stream at TECx-m 2024, Ms. Do will explore the diverse ways that fashion, as a creative art, intersects with, impacts, and is impacted by technology through the lens of Ms. Chloe Dao’s unique artistic and entrepreneurial journey.

Chloe Dao, a proud Vietnamese Asian-American, small business owner and fashion entrepreneur, was born in Laos as the sixth of eight girls. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, with 8 years of experience in the New York luxury fashion scene. In 2000, she launched the LOT 8 boutique in Houston and in 2021 moved to M-K-T Heights. With more than 24 years in business, her goal has always remained the same—to make a woman feel beautiful with effortless and timeless designs.

She was catapulted to international fame after winning Project Runway Season 2 in 2006. As a fashion designer, businesswoman and style expert, Chloe has been in Forbes, People, TIME, ELLE and the Wall Street Journal and featured on CNN, The View and Good Morning America. She was as an ambassador for Barbie’s 60^th Anniversary “You Can Be Anything” campaign and has collaborated on projects with the NFL and Dove. Chloe has been exhibited at the Smithsonian and is permanently archived in Google Arts & Culture in Houston Community College’s Fashion Archive.

Chloe has made a big impact in the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community in Houston and beyond. Most recently, in a collaboration with the Houston Public Library, Rice University and the Chao Center for Asian Studies, Chloe celebrated AAPI month with fellow Asian designers in a fashion show. She has also participated in a roundtable discussion led by MSNBC’s Katie Phang, for a screening of “The Culture Is: AAPI Women Thursday,” a four-part series highlighting diverse women. At SXSW in Austin, Chloe was on hand for the Asian American Artists and Entrepreneur Meetup.

Chloe embodies “If you can give back, you should give back.” Sharing her knowledge, time and success, she enjoys helping others and being a part of their journey. In late 2020, Chloe and her team designed the HoUSton t-shirt, showcasing all races and identities, celebrating the city’s diversity, with a percentage of sales going to rotating charities. Her collaborations with Zeta Tau Alpha Think Pink, Ronald McDonald House Houston, Salvation Army and MD Anderson Cancer Center are a testament to her commitment to philanthropy.

Dr. Mason Cobb
Dr. Mason has been involved in healthcare in Vietnam for over 20 years. He was a leader of the team that established the first American Healthcare and the first authentic international Healthcare clinic in Saigon. Later, with his partner, Dr . Nguyen Vinh Tuong, he founded Victoria Healthcare International Clinics.

Dr. Mason is dedicated to the highest international standards, with an emphasis on American Best Practices in Healthcare and management. Dr. Mason has left various healthcare opportunities in the US to focus on bringing high medical-level wellness practices to Vietnam. This is a rapidly emerging field and is the essence of Healthcare. Kendrick Nguyen

Kendrick Nguyen is the CEO and Co-founder of Republic, a financial technology firm that allows everyone to invest in private markets.  Republic operates several distinct business lines including a retail investment platform, a private capital division, and a blockchain advisory practice.

Prior to Republic, Kendrick served as General Counsel and Venture Hacker at AngelList, as well as a Fellow of Stanford Law School and the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford University.

Formerly a securities attorney, Kendrick worked on several initiatives aimed at defining a compliant but pragmatic protocol for conducting compliant coin offerings, briefing the SEC, Congress, and foreign regulators on this issue. He frequently lectures on the topics at the intersection of law and entrepreneurship, and his views have been cited in a number of court decisions and publications.  An immigrant from Vietnam, Kendrick has a strong interest in improving access to capital  for underserved entrepreneurs in the U.S. and beyond.

Huy Do started his career in the Silicon Valley at global law firms specializing in cross-border matters for multinational corporations, handling both corporate transactions and dispute resolution, including trying jury cases to verdict. His work with Silicon Valley technology companies attracted the attention of tech startups and he was seconded to work for several companies negotiating deals primarily involving corporate, contract, intellectual property, and securities laws. On the creative side, Huy has worked with different creative constituents around the world to finance, produce, commercialize and distribute creative works. He has traveled extensively representing clients in Europe and Asia. Eventually he joined his clients and co-founded several tech startups, including a talent app, and later transitioned into senior executive investment roles.

Huy has a passion for good stories and even greater affinity for great story-telling. He co-founded his first creative company featuring two fictional child characters with special powers derived from zodiac signs. As the Managing and Production Editor, he co-developed and directed the publication and distribution of a children’s storybook to local schools and libraries. While in law school he served as an editor on Law Review and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Law and Social Challenges, a scholarly journal he co-founded.

In 2001, after returning from his first trip back to Vietnam in 2000, he and other Vietnamese-American professionals founded a global network to support Vietnamese tech entrepreneurs. This network expanded and eventually reached Vietnam in 2008, now known as SAVVi Code. The organization’s signature event is TECx, which celebrates the convergence of technology and the creative arts, namely film, and music.

Matt Dearborn is an accomplished screenwriter who has made his mark on the television industry. He has written over a hundred episodes of television, and his original ideas have been purchased by every major network including Netflix, Sony, HBO, FOX, NBC, CBS, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Lifetime, and Hallmark.

His hard work and dedication have been recognized with numerous accolades, including three Emmy nominations and a BAFTA award for creating Even Stevens, which was recognized as an Outstanding International Series. He has also been nominated for the NAACP’s Image Award and the prestigious Environmental Media Award.

In 2022, he received the Telly Award for directing Until the Wheels Come Off, a documentary that chronicles an ultra-athlete’s record-breaking attempt to ride his bicycle across the United States in just ten days.

Currently, Mr. Dearborn’s feature X’s and O’s is in pre-production at Netflix. His talent and expertise have also been shared with aspiring writers worldwide through programs such as the Sony TV Russian Writers Program, the California State University Communications Department, and the Escola de Series conference in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
